ABOUT US
A Canadian engineering company, specialized in land-based recirculating aquaculture and water treatment.
OUR TEAM
MARC SORENSEN P.ENG
PRESIDENT, MECHANICAL ENGINEER
BSc in Mech. Eng.
Marc Sorensen began practicing in 2006, engineering water treatment equipment for land-based aquaculture systems. Enthusiasm and work ethic led to a mentorship in the design of land-based recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and his incorporation of Sorensen Engineering Ltd. in 2015. Marc enjoys working with clients to develop solutions tailored to their specific needs and continuing his professional development in engineering and project management.
LIONEL HAYTER P.ENG
CHEMICAL ENGINEER
BSc in Chem. Eng., MSc in Chem. Eng., TME
Lionel Hayter joined Sorensen Engineering in 2016. After completing a Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering in which he focused on fine solids removal in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) both in the fish rearing loop and in effluent treatment, he added his knowledge base to the Sorensen Engineering team. Lionel has design experience as well as hands-on experience with many water treatment technologies including chemical treatment, swirl and radial flow separators, biofiltration, safe ozone injection, solids filtration, and temperature control. From designing water treatment processes to troubleshooting treatment operations to on-site analysis of how your system is working, Lionel's goal is to help keep your water cool and clean.
BRADEN BREWER P.TECH
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST
DEEE
Braden Brewer graduated from Electronics Engineering Technology from NBCC Saint John in 2018 and joined Sorensen Engineering that fall. Previous work experience in construction has allowed him to better understand how buildings and systems should work together. Since the start of him joining Sorensen Engineering, Braden has been preparing building plans, models and process schematics for our clients.
CLIENTS
COOKE AQUACULTURE
Working with Cooke since 2006 has resulted in completed projects covering much of Atlantic Canada, and parts of the United States, Scotland and Spain. Initially, RAS projects ranged up to 1,000mt/day. Currently, we are collaborating on projects with systems feeding 5,000mt/day. Cooke has continuously challenged us by quickly incorporating the best available RAS technology as it becomes available.
MIRACLE SPRINGS
Working with Miracle Springs since 2017, we engineered a RAS system for their arctic charr land based grow out business, and have offered ongoing support.
